And now a personal (and related note): Just yesterday, the leader of the most powerful Empire on earth, the President of the United States, posted this.
Do you know what you can do to fight xenophobic, fear-mongering, anti-immigrant rhetoric like this? Stand in solidarity with your immigrant neighbours by supporting the voices of immigrant authors.
I’m a two time immigrant to North America (first to the US in 2011 at the age of 18 and then to Canada in 2021 at the age of 28). People like me are considered an “under-represented community in publishing” because people like me don’t get to write books with major publishers - especially in Christian publishing.
As I approach book launch 3 weeks from now, I am even more cognizant of this reality: As a first-time author from a diaspora immigrant community, the odds are stacked against me. No one expects me to write a book that sells well. And neither should they.
But with your help, I’d like to break the status quo by shattering the glass ceiling - not for myself, but for other immigrant authors who will come after me. I would be SO immensely grateful for your solidarity and support of my work by pre-ordering my book and joining my book launch team today!
Drawing from his ancient, St. Thomas Indian Christian roots and a decolonized, justice-centered understanding of Scripture, Joash helps audiences reimagine a faith that unites rather than divides—and that stands firmly with neighbors on the margins. Through speaking engagements, teaching, and advocacy, he calls Christians to a more contemplative yet courageous activism, motivated by the grace-filled, non-violent way of Jesus. To support Joash’s priestly ordination and upcoming PhD costs, you can upgrade to be a paid Substack subscriber today. We’ve also just launched monthly virtual hangouts as a paid subscriber perk! Thank you for your partnership in this work of awakening the Western Church to prioritize justice through the reimagination of our faith in ancient, Jesus-centered, justice-oriented, and decolonized ways.
I can’t wait!!
