I recently had the chance to sit down with my friends at The Bodies Behind The Bus Podcast - an advocacy organization affiliated with Sacred Wilderness1 that is doing great work by centering the voices of spiritual abuse survivors in the US & Canadian Church. Mine was more of a guest interview as a subject matter expert on justice.
If we haven’t met and you’re wondering what a coffee conversation with me would be like, this would likely be it. I think you’ll really enjoy this conversation as I share my heart behind my advocacy work and how I ended up where I am today - physically, theologically and vocationally.
Here are some of my favourite parts of this conversation:
1. Differences between the Indian Church and the US Church.
2. Differences between the US Church and the Canadian Church on justice.
3. Slaveholder Theology and how it heavily influences the Western Church today to prioritize “saving lost souls” over the liberation of oppressed bodies - when Jesus prioritized both.
4. Getting canceled by some of my favourite authors & academics (including a few evangelical academics I was once hoping to do my doctoral studies under) because of my advocacy against slaveholder theology.
Give it a listen and let me know your thoughts!
